This powerful Cryptid hides in South Africa. It is a powerful swimmer, so it can often be sighted near water. In Zulu mythology, one of the first creatures the gods created was the Grootslang. The gods realized it would destroy everything if it was allowed to live, so they split them into the elephant and the snake. One or several survivors make up today's population. It lures elephants into a bottomless pit to devour them.
A blog all about the animals, and creatures sighted around the world, but have yet to be proven by science.

Mokele Mbembe
The animal is said to be of a brownish-gray color with a smooth skin, its size approximating that of an elephant; at least that of a hippopotamus. It is said to have a long and very flexible neck and only one tooth but a very long one; some say it has a horn. A few spoke about a long muscular tail like that of an alligator. Its name translates to “one who blocks rivers” because of its massive size. It lives in rivers and lakes, and feeds on aquatic vegetation.
